California Dreaming
California Dreaming delves into the odd town of California City, which is the third largest city by land in the state of California while having a population of only roughly 14,000 people. Grandiosely envisaged in the 1950s as a new metropolis to rival Los Angeles, which is only two hours away, it is now a little hamlet within a much larger desert ghost town. The film follows numerous inhabitants, including Quebec-born blue-collar worker Jean-Paul LeBlanc, and analyzes how the American Dream has altered over time, drawing comparisons between the 1960s American Dream, when the city was formed, and the dreams of those who live there today.
