Tin Man
Tin Man is a miniseries that was developed in 2007 and aired in the United States on the Sci Fi Channel. The miniseries has a total running time of four and a half hours and was co-produced by RHI Entertainment and Sci Fi Channel original films. The first segment of the program was broadcast on December 2, while the subsequent two segments were broadcast on subsequent evenings. On March 11, 2008, it was made available for purchase as a DVD; the same year, it was shown again on television in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is continued in this four-part miniseries that also features Zooey Deschanel, Neal McDonough, Alan Cumming, Raoul Trujillo, Kathleen Robertson, and Richard Dreyfuss. The miniseries adds science fiction and additional fantasy elements to the original story and stars Richard Dreyfuss, Raoul Trujillo, and Alan Cumming. The story follows the exploits of DG, a waitress from a sleepy little village who, after being sucked into a magical realm known as the O.Z., finds herself under the oppressive control of a sorceress named Azkadellia. DG embarks on a journey with her friends Glitch, Raw, and Cain in order to recover the memories she has lost, locate the people who raised her, and thwart Azkadellia's plan to imprison the O.Z. in an unending state of nightfall. The first portion of the miniseries had 6.4 million viewers and was the highest-rated show in its timeslot; the miniseries as a whole would go on to be the highest-rated miniseries of 2007. The production of the miniseries cost $20 million. In addition to being nominated for a Critics' Choice Award, it was also nominated for a total of nine Emmy awards, of which it won one. It was met with a variety of responses from reviewers, with some appreciating the performance of the actors, the score, and the visual effects, while others felt that it was too depressing and gloomy.
