The Slave Hunters

The Slave Hunters is a 2010 South Korean action historical drama set in the Joseon Dynasty about a slave hunter on the hunt for a general-turned-runaway slave while also looking for the woman he loves. From January 6 through March 25, 2010, it aired 24 episodes on KBS2 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55. The series was visually and intellectually engaging to spectators due to an appropriate display of strong brawn, intricate yet realistic action scenes, bawdy comedy, and poetic moments of tragedy and humanity. Critics praised filmmaker Kwak Jung-sumptuous hwan's cinematography, with the usage of a Red One camera lending each picture a cinematic sheen. The blockbuster show led the ratings chart for seven weeks in a row, averaging 31.7 percent and peaking at 35.9 percent. The series was recognized at the Seoul International Drama Awards and the KBS Drama Awards. Jang was also nominated for best actor at the 2011 International Emmy Awards.
