The New Archies

The New Archies is based on Archie comic books and characters. The NBC series re-imagined Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, and Reggie Mantle as junior high students. Fourteen episodes were created and aired in 1987 and 1989. A short-lived Archie Comics series with the same title and universe was developed. The Family Channel aired reruns from 1991 to 1993 and Toon Disney from 1998 to 2002. Veronica is a valley girl in this series. Previously, she had a southern accent in animated cartoons and radio shows. Eugene replaced Dilton Doiley as "intellectual." Amani, Eugene's girlfriend, also joined. Red joined Archie's family.
