The Lieutenant is an American television show, the first. It aired on NBC on Saturday evenings at the 1963--1964 television schedule. It was created by Arena Productions, one of the most successful in-house production businesses of this 1960s of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Situated at Camp Pendleton, the Westcoast foundation of this U.S. Marine Corps, The Lieutenant focuses on the men of the Corps in peace time with a Cold War backdrop. The title character is a rifle platoon leader, Second Lieutenant William Tiberius Rice and a few of those training teachers at Camp Pendleton.
