The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries
Based on nine of Ngaio Marsh's Roderick Alleyn books, the British detective series The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries is a fan favorite. Between the years 1990 and 1994, it first appeared on television. Simon Williams as Detective Inspector Alleyn in the first episode. Alleyn's sidekick and "Watson" figure, Detective Sergeant Fox, was portrayed by William Simons, and Alleyn's love interest, the painter Agatha Troy, was portrayed by Belinda Lang. Since Williams was unavailable during production of the pilot, Simons and Lang returned to their previous roles while Patrick Malahide took up the role of the series' protagonist. The BBC produced a total of nine episodes, each based on a different book. DVD releases of all eight episodes featuring Malahide have been made in the United States and the United Kingdom. All nine seasons are available on an Australian set.
