The Cowboys
The Cowboys was a shortlived Western television show based on the 1972 movie of the same name starring John Wayne. It aired on the American Broadcasting Company television network from February 6 to May 8, 1974. The television show starred Jim Davis, Diana Douglas, Moses Gunn, A Martinez, Robert Carradine, and Clay O'Brien. The series was, produced by david Dortort known for Bonanza and The High Chaparral. The television show, such as the movie, followed the exploits of seven boys who worked in 1870s New Mexico on a ranch. ABC made a decision to reduce running time, although the Cowboys began as an hourlong show.
The format change didn't result in audiences that are raised, and also the show has been the victim of early cancellation.
Guest celebrities comprised Cal Bellini as Wa-Cha-Ka in"The Indian Givers", Kevin Hagen as Josh Redding in"Death on a Quick Horse", and Lurene Tuttle as Grandma Jesse in"Many a Good Horse Died".
