Target was a police drama series that ran from. It had been established because the 13th Regional Crime Squad in Southampton. He was then asked to swap functions Who Target, although the series was developed under the name of Hackett by producer Graham Williams. It starred Patrick Mower as Det. Supt. Steve Hackett, Brendan Price as Det. Sgt. Frank Bonney, Vivien Heilbron as Det. Sgt. Louise Colbert along with Philip Madoc as Det. Chief Supt. Tate. Seventeen episodes were produced within just two chain. The series was that the BBC answer to the tremendously successful series The Sweeney of ITV. Like The Sweeney the automobiles used were Fords Cortinas and Granadas. Nevertheless the individual car of Hackett is American along the traces of a Dodge Charger and can be seen in a number of incidents. There is a definite lack of humor when compared with this Sweeney and during that time that the series was slated to be more violent than the Sweeney, though watching this now it is tough to discern the difference. The second series was toned down. Patrick Mower being such a powerful celebrity seems to overwhelm the supporting cast. The theme music was by Dudley Simpson. Each episode lasted approx 50mins. There was A third show mooted using Robert Banks Stewart carrying over as producer. He spent two weeks in the manufacturer's chair, throughout which he intended to improve the supporting cast, bring the violence down and then steer the series away from Your Sweeney. He has advised by the head of drama which the series was being scrapped and asked to come up with a replacement offense series. The personal eye drama shoe string was invented by him.
