Remington Steele
Remington Steele is a U.S. television program. The series combined elements of the romantic comedy, drama, and procedural detective genres. Remington Steele is well-known for beginning Pierce Brosnan's career and for paving the way for the comparable series Moonlighting. The concept of Remington Steele is that certified private investigator Laura Holt, portrayed by Stephanie Zimbalist, launched a detective service under her own name but discovered that potential clients refused to hire a woman, regardless of her qualifications. Laura creates a phony male boss named Remington Steele to fix the problem. In the first episode, "License to Steele," Pierce Brosnan's character, a former robber and con man whose real name is never disclosed, acquires the identity of Remington Steele through a sequence of circumstances. Behind the scenes, Laura maintains strict control.
