Porridge
Porridge is actually a situation comedy broadcast on BBC1 from 1974 to 1977, running for a different string, two Christmas specials and a feature film known as P Orridge. It stars Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale as two inmates in the literary HMP Slade at Cumberland. "Performing porridge" is British slang for serving a prison sentence, P-Orridge once function as traditional breakfast at UK prisons.
A 1978 sequel followed the show, Going Straight, which established that Fletcher would be moving straight back to prison. Porridge was voted number seven of the 100 biggest sitcoms at a 2004 BBC poll.
