Open All Hours is really a BBC sitcom starring Ronnie Barker as a shopkeeper and David Jason and written by Roy Clarke. It ran for 26 episodes in four series, which originated in 1976, 1981, 1982 and 1985 respectively. The programme developed from a tv pilot broadcast Seven of just one, from Barker's comedy anthology series.
Open All Hours ranked eighth at the 2004 Britain's Best Sitcom poll.
