Legends of the Hidden Temple
Children's action-adventure game show Legends of the Hidden Temple. The focus of the play is a temple "stocked with hidden treasures guarded by mysterious Mayan temple guards." Kirk Fogg hosts and guides the teams, whereas Dee Bradley Baker announces and voices a talking Olmec Head who "knows the secrets of each treasure in his Temple." Six teams of two children compete to rescue a historical artifact from the Temple by doing physical stunts and answering questions based on history, mythology, and geography. After three rounds of elimination, only one team is permitted to enter the Temple and recover the relic within three minutes in order to win the grand prize. Legends of the Hidden Temple was created by Stone Stanley Productions in collaboration with Nickelodeon and taped at Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It ran on Nickelodeon from September 11, 1993 to 1995 in its initial run, and continued to air in reruns until February 28, 1999. From 1999 through 2007, TeenNick periodically broadcast reruns of the program. In 1995, Legends of the Hidden Temple received the CableACE award for Best Game Show Special or Series.
