Hillside
Hillside is a Canadian-American teen drama that ran on YTV in Canada from 1991 to 1993. In the U.S., it was called "Fifteen." John T. Binkley created and ran the show. It was Nickelodeon's only teen soap opera. Like most daytime shows, the show was shot on videotape. The show was first thought of as Fifteen, and a 13-episode pilot series was made and tested in the U.S. for The Disney Channel. After Disney decided not to move forward with the project, Nickelodeon and Canadian partners joined Binkley in making the show, which was called Hillside in Canada for the first and second seasons and Fifteen in the U.S. for all 65 episodes. After that, the show was broadcast all over the world, including in Germany and Israel, among other places. During its four-season run, the show's large ensemble cast went through a number of changes. Among the cast, Laura Harris, Enuka Okuma, and Ryan Reynolds stand out.
