Globe Trekker

Globe Trekker can be an experience tourism tv set. The show had been inspired by the lonely-planet travelbooks and began airing in 1994. Globe Trekker is currently broadcast in over 40 countries across two continents. Each episode features a host, also called a traveller, that travels with a camera team to a country--usually, a place --and adventures the sights, sounds, and civilization that the location has to offer. Episodes feature food guides, and in-depth city, beach, dive, shopping, history, festival. The series usually goes far beyond tourist destinations in order to give audiences an even more authentic look in local culture. Presenters usually participate in various aspects of regional daily life, like attending a regular wedding or visiting with a mining area. They address the viewer directly, acting as tourists-turned-tour guides, but will be also filmed reaching locals and discovering locations in sequences that are unrehearsed. Globe Trekker also includes interviews with backpackers who share advice about separate traveling in that nation.
