Fawlty Towers
Fawlty Towers is a British sitcom that aired on BBC2 between 1975 and 1979. Twelve episodes were produced. John Cleese and his then-wife Connie Booth wrote the play, which they also appeared in. The series is set in Fawlty Towers, a fictional hotel on the English Riviera seaside resort of Torquay. The plots revolve around the hotel's tense, rude, and put-upon owner Basil Fawlty, his bossy wife Sybil, a comparatively normal chambermaid Polly, and hapless Spanish waiter Manuel, and their attempts to run the hotel in the midst of farcical situations and an array of demanding and eccentric guests. Fawlty Towers was rated the best British television series of all time in a list compiled by the British Film Institute and voted on by industry professionals in 2000.
