Crime Story
Crime Story can be a American TV play, created by Gustave Reininger and Chuck Adamson, that ran for 2 seasons on NBC and originated in 1986. The producer was Michael Mann, who had left his series Miami Vice direct the film Manhunter and to oversee Crime Story. The show premiered with a pilot -- a picture that was exhibited and was observed by over 30 million viewers. It continued to attract a record number of viewers, and was then scheduled to check out Miami Vice on Friday nights. NBC then moved the show opposite ABC's Moonlighting, hurting its ratings that NBC ordered its cancellation .
Set in early, pre-Beatles 1960s, the series depicted two men -- Lt. Mike Torello and also mobster Ray Luca -- using an obsessive drive to destroy eachother. As Luca started with street crime in Chicago, was"made" from the Chicago Outfit and then delivered into vegas to track their casinos, Torello chased Luca as part of a particular Organized Crime Strike Force. Torello, his friend Ted Kehoe, and Luca had grown up in Chicago's"The Patch" neighborhood, also called"Little Sicily" or"Little Italy" along with the temptations of this fortytwo Gang. The show brought controversy and acclaim for the serialized format, in rather as was normal with shows.
