Claymore
Norihiro Yagi is the author and illustrator of the dark fantasy manga series Claymore. The series made its debut in the May 2001 edition of the now-defunct Monthly Shnen Jump. The series was briefly moved to Weekly Shnen Jump after the magazine was terminated in June2007, where it was still published monthly. The series was relocated to Jump Square when it was released in November 2007. Shueisha has issued 23 tankbon volumes as of December 2012. The first eleven volumes of the book were turned into a twenty-six episode anime series by Madhouse. Hiroyuki Tanaka directed the series, which started on NTV on April3, 2007 and aired through September25, 2007. On July25, 2007 and September27,2007, the anime series' soundtrack and a CD of character songs featuring anime voice actresses were released, respectively. Viz Media has licensed the Claymore manga for an English language release in North America. It began publishing the series on April4,2006, and as of November6,2012, it had released 21 volumes. Funimation Entertainment has the North American distribution rights to the anime adaptation, which released the first DVD in Fall 2008 and the whole series on Blu-ray in Spring 2010. Madman Entertainment has licensed the anime for release in Australia and New Zealand, and Manga Entertainment has sub-licensed the anime for distribution in the United Kingdom.
