Clannad

Tomoya Okazaki is a third-year high school student who hates his life. When he was young, his mother died in a car accident, which made his father turn to alcohol and cigarettes. This leads to fights between the two until Tomoya hurts his shoulder in a fight. Since then, Tomoya and his father haven't been close, which has made him a bad kid over time. On his way to school, he meets a strange girl named Nagisa Furukawa. She is a year older than him, but she is repeating a grade because she got sick. Because of this, most of her friends have moved on and she is often by herself. They start hanging out together, and as time goes on, Tomoya's life slowly starts to change.
