Celebrity Deathmatch
Celebrity Deathmatch is a claymation TV show that pits famous people against each other in a wrestling ring. Almost always, the loser dies in a horrible way. It was known for using a lot of blood in every match and making injuries look worse than they were. The series was made by Eric Fogel, and the pilots aired on MTV on January 1 and 25, 1998. The first series ran from May 14, 1998 to October 20, 2002, and had 75 episodes. One special, "Celebrity Deathmatch Hits Germany," did not count toward the final number of episodes. It aired on June 21, 2001. Stone Cold Steve Austin, a professional wrestler, gave voice to his animated self as a guest commentator. MTV said early in 2003 that a movie based on the series was in the works, but the project was canceled by the end of that year. In 2005, MTV2 announced that the show would be back as part of their "Sic 'Em Friday" programming block. The show was supposed to come back in November 2005, but the premiere was pushed back to June 10, 2006, as part of a new "Sic'emation" block with two other animated shows, Where My Dogs At and The Adventures of Chico and Guapo. The show's fifth season was made by Cuppa Coffee Studios, and the premiere got more than 2.5 million viewers, making it MTV2's highest-rated season premiere ever.
