Blue's Clues
Blue's Clues is an American children's TV show that lasted from September 8, 1996 through August 6, 2006 on Nickelodeon. Angela Santomero, Todd Kessler, and Traci Paige Johnson blended child development and early-childhood instruction with new animation and production techniques. Originally presented by Steve Burns, who left in 2002 to pursue music, and afterwards by Donovan Patton. Burns' exit rumors signaled the show's rise as a cultural phenomenon. Blue's Clues was the highest-rated preschool show on American commercial TV and helped grow Nickelodeon. It's "one of the most successful, critically acclaimed, and groundbreaking preschool TV series of all time." Blue's Room began in 2004. The show's producers and creators used story instead of magazine format, repetition to reinforce content, and a consistent episode structure. Since Sesame Street's debut in the U.S. 30 years ago, researchers have studied child development and young children's viewing patterns. By involving the audience, they changed the genre. Research was integrated into all phases and parts of the show's creative process. Blue's Clues was the first preschool cutout animation series, resembling a storybook in its use of primary colors and basic construction paper cutouts of recognizable items. Its home-based setting was familiar to American youngsters, but its style was unique. In 1999, a live production of Blue's Clues toured the U.S. using many of the show's production advancements. In 2002, over 2 million people saw over 1,000 shows.
