Baccano!

Baccano! is a light novel series created by Ryohgo Narita and Katsumi Enami in Japan. The series is set in a fictional United States during several historical periods, most notably during the Prohibition era, and is typically recounted from multiple points of view. It follows a group of individuals who are unrelated to one another, such as alchemists, thieves, thugs, Mafiosi, and Camorristi. The individuals start to cross paths after an immortality elixir is manufactured in 1930 Manhattan, setting off events that spiral out of hand. The first novel was published in February 2003 under the Dengeki Bunko banner of ASCII Media Works, and as of March2013, there has been twenty published. The books were turned into a sixteen-part anime television series directed by Takahiro Omori and produced by Brain's Base and Aniplex. WOWOW aired the first thirteen episodes from July 26 to November1,2007, while the remaining three episodes were published on DVD. A two-volume manga, an adventure video game for the Nintendo DS, and two drama CDs were also released based on the series. Two gaiden novels were released in parts with the DVDs of the anime adaptation, while an additional novel was issued with the first drama CD.
