A coming-of-age narrative about a person who, against all possibilities and numerous struggles, struggles for acceptance and love and for her place on the planet. The show centers on a young orphaned girl from the 1890's, who, after a abusive childhood spent in orphanages and strangers' homes, is sent to live with her aging brother and an elderly woman. Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform their lives and eventually the small town in which they dwell together with fierce intellect, her distinctive spirit and brilliant imagination.
