Vatel
With war brewing with Holland, in 1671, a penniless prince inquires Louis XIV to 3 days of festivities in a chateau in Chantilly. The prince needs a commission as an overall, hence the extravagances are to impress the king. May be that the steward, also a person of honour, Vatel, talent, and low arrival. The prince is craven in his longing for stature: no task is too menial or dishonorable to him to give Vatel. He finds himself attracted the king mistress, to Anne de Montausier while Vatel tries to preserve dignity. Back in Vatel, she finds someone who's accurate, living out his principles over the casual cruelties of court politics. Would the pair of these escape unscathed?
