Under the Open Sky

Mikami, a middle-aged ex-yakuza who has spent the majority of his life in jail, is released after completing a 13-year term for murder. He registers for a TV show in an effort to locate his long-lost mother, from whom he was separated as a child, and meets a young TV director named Tsunoda. Until then, he tries to find a suitable career and integrate into society. His impulsiveness, stubbornness, and established views create conflict in his relationships with Tsunoda and those who wish to assist him.
