The Tales of Hoffmann

In this film adaptation of the Offenbach opera, a new poet named Hoffman broods. To begin with, his affair with the beautiful Olympia is shattered when he realizes that she's really a woman designed by a scientist. He considers that a dramatic prostitute loves him, only to find out she was hired to fake her affections. Lastly, a magic spell maintains the lover's life.
