Rex is an old man who is bitter about never becoming famous and never having lived a life without any meaning. He ultimately eventually ends up in a nursing home surrounded by American immigrants after suffering a stroke. Defer by the situation, he concentrates his energy which places him. But, their relationship takes on fresh meaning if it is discovered that he once shook hands with Vicente Fernandeza Mexican singer, producer and celebrity idolized throughout Latin civilization.
