The King
Tae-su, who was born into a household of limited means, comes to the realization that power is the single most important factor in life and makes the decision to pursue a career as a prosecutor, which was the most visible representation of power in the 1990s. Tae-su ultimately achieves his ambition of becoming a prosecutor, but his life is not much different than that of a salary man. This is despite the fact that he attended the most prominent law school and lived through democratic struggle in Korea. It just so happens that he is invited to join an exclusive group of wealthy and influential prosecutors. He is finally able to experience what it is like to live at the top of the social ladder, but even as he delights in the luxuries of power, he is made painfully aware of its darker aspects.
