The Group
The renowned novel by Mary McCarthy is brought to life by Sidney Lumet in this film adaptation. A private girl's school in 1933 is home to eight young women who are friends and members of the upper-class group at the time. They are set to graduate and begin their own lives. During the years between their graduation and the outbreak of World War I in Europe, the film chronicles their loves and marriages, their searches for employment or meaning in their lives, as well as their highs and lows, in a serialized fashion.
