Back in eighteenth-dynasty Egypt, Sinuhe, a poor orphan, becomes an excellent physician along into their Pharoah's service Horemheb is appointed with his friend. The personal triumphs and tragedies of sinuhe are played against the much larger canvas of those events of the dynasty. Since Sinuhe is drawn into court intrigues he learns the responses to the questions he has sought since his arrival.
