The Cousin

Nounours is the slang name for a "cousin," also known as an informant who has a particular deal with the law enforcement agency whereby he receives 10% of the drugs that are confiscated as a result of his assistance. The role of his personal contact, Inspector Maurin, is taken over by Inspector Gérard Delvaux after he commits suicide. During this time, Judge Lambert is investigating the possibility that the police officers have engaged in criminal activity. Her tenacious investigations, which had Maurin trapped, are heading to Gérard, and also to Nounours, as the source of the heroin that led to recent occurrences of fatal overdoses. Gérard is determined to fulfill Nounours' promises of increasingly larger catches before he is compelled to expose who Nounours is to Judge Lambert. Nounours has made these promises to Gérard.
