Starting Over
A man who has recently been divorced finds love, but for some reason he just can't seem to move on from his former spouse. This has comedic repercussions for his romantic relationships. The story is adapted from the novel by Dan Wakefield. Burt Reynolds plays a beautiful middle-aged guy who goes through a confidence crisis after his ambitious singer wife (Candice Bergen) leaves him. Eventually, he starts a new relationship with a teacher who is just as insecure as he is, and the two of them begin to heal each other's wounds (Jill Clayburgh). But when the husband's wife makes an attempt at reconciliation by seducing him and then playing a song that she has written for him that is truly torturous, he recognizes where his allegiance rests.
