The real-life account of phony journalist Stephen Glass, who worked in Washington, DC, and soared to dizzying heights as a young writer in his 20s, eventually becoming a staff writer for The New Republic for a period of three years. Glass fabricated sources, quotes, and even entire stories in an attempt to gain recognition more quickly. However, his deception did not remain undetected for an infinite amount of time, and eventually, his entire world came crashing down around him.
