Ride in the Whirlwind

Three cowhands, between occupations, have the bad chance to pitch nighttime camp in the exact same valley for a cabin packed with guys who killed the protector and just robbed a stagecoach. A posse forms up across the form arrives, and takes for granted that everyone else listed is guilty -- fit for hanging out of a tree, whichever occurs first or shooting bits. 50% Ride in the Whirlwind's 82 minutes is devoted to tapping on the matter of fact horror of that situation. At the remaining half, the two surviving cowpokes (Jack Nicholson and Cameron Mitchell) seek shelter at a farm house where they reluctantly threaten the farmerand accept Break-Fast out of his wife, flirt together with his daughter (Millie Perkins), play a few checkers, and also aspire to stay undetected till night fall.
