Pocketful of Miracles
Damon Runyon's fairytale is told by manager Frank Capra. Boozy, brassy Apple Annie, a beggar with a basket of apples, is really as much as part of downtown nyc as Broadway itself. Bootlegger Dave the Dude is really just a sucker for the apples -- he thinks they bring luck to him. But Dave and Lady Queenie Martin want far more than luck when it ends up that Annie is in a jam and simply they can help: Annie's daughter Louise, who's lived her life in a Spanish convent, is visiting America using a Count along with his own son. The son of the count wants to marry. It's as much as their cronies and Queenie along with Dave to show Annie in to a lady and convince the Count and his boy they are hobnobbing with the elite of New York.
