Passion
Maja Borg, a filmmaker who has exited a toxic relationship, investigates two ritual practices: Christianity and BDSM. In terms of their healing potential, religion and subculture may share a spiritual affinity despite their seeming dissimilarity at first appearance. Borg faces herself and her profoundly personal traumas while investigating the European queer scene and the Christian tradition of northern Europe in order to return to her own center. Passion and suffering are two sides of the same complex case in 'Passion,' a film whose transcendental imagers unite literary and cinematic traditions into a ceremonial whole. However, the abstractions lend a sense of humanity to the film's meetings, in which Borg's body and spirit are tested. This humanity may prove to be the emotional and possibly spiritual link between theology and BDSM.
