Nostalgia
The Russian poet Andrei Gorchakov, followed by translator and direct Eugenia, is traveling through Italy researching an 18th century Russian composer's life span. In an early spa town, he and the lunatic Domenico, who years earlier had imprisoned his or her own family in his house for a long time to save them against the evils of the world meet. Seeing some profound truth in Domenico's act, Andrei becomes drawn to him. In a string of dreams, the poet nostalgia for his homeland and his longing for his spouse, his ambivalent feelings for Italy along with Eugenia, along with his own feeling of kinship with Domenico eventually become intertwined.
