North Korea: A Day in the Life
This film's cityscapes and patriotic anthems are intended to be a stark contrast to Seoul Train's desolate countryside. With the complete collaboration and approval of the North Korean government, Dutch filmmaker Pieter Fleury developed this propaganda video depicting a day in the life of one of the world's most mysterious civilizations. A Day in the Life, which was mostly dictated by the North Korean film bureau, follows a regular North Korean family as they go about their everyday activities. The film is primarily dedicated to the pride of the North Korean nation of comrades and the glory of General Kim Jong Il. The purpose of the film is to celebrate modern North Korea's achievements. But does it? With uncut video and no narrative, audiences may interpret Fleury's film in a slightly different way than the director intended.
