Papua New Guinea's province of Bougainville is embroiled in a war when a young girl is mesmerized by Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, read in class by the village's sole white resident. Bougainville was torn apart in 1991 by a conflict sparked by a copper mine in the South Pacific. Reluctant "Popeye," Hugh Laurie's "Popeye," provides the youngsters of Matilda's little town an escape with Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
