Moffie

Moffie (a disparaging Afrikaans name for a gay guy) tells the narrative of Nicholas van der Swart, who realizes early on that he's different. Try as he might, he can't live up to his family's macho reputation. At 19, he's drafted into the South African army and finds his sensibilities outraged by a dying system in full force. Set during the South African border war against communism, this is a long-overdue tale of emotional and physical anguish.
