Gwangju residents live relatively peaceful lives until one day the military takes over the city, accusing residents of conspiracy and claiming that they are communist sympathisers plotting a revolution against the current government. As a result of the soldiers' brutality against defenseless people, primarily students, the citizens have decided to retaliate by forming a militia.
