Max and the Junkmen
Max, a Paris investigator, is aloof, affluent, and frustrated by gangs of robbers he cannot apprehend. He convinces a crew of petty thieves led by an old friend to heist a bank to reclaim his status. A reluctant captain gives Max intelligence, and Max begins spending evenings with Lilly, the leader's girlfriend and prostitute. He pretends to be a wealthy banker and advises Lilly on her future. He suggests a bank payroll. The plot works, the small criminals think they're set for a huge score, and the cops are there. Max's cold plan—what could go wrong? Who's ensnared?
