Matewan

Recorded in the coal nation of West Virginia, "Matewan" celebrates labor organizing in the context of a 1920s work stoppage. Union coordinator, Joe Kenehan, a scab called "Few Clothing" Johnson and an understanding mayor and police principal heroically battle the power stood for by a coal company and Matewan's vested interests to make sure that justice as well as employees' legal rights need not take a rear to repulsive working conditions, exploitation as well as the bottom line.
