Love in Moreno Valley

James comes straight out of MoVal, a multi-cultural neighborhood in California, where he plays guitar in his room and hides from his emotionally disturbed single-father, who is unbearable due to his fantasy baseball obsession and sexual life. When tenth grade starts at Vista Christian High School, James is reunited with his unlikely best friend, Abe, a wildchild whose antics draw a lot of negative attention to both he and James, much to the chagrin of their strange, stringent principal, Mr. Durante. Meanwhile, James is preoccupied with impressing Carla, a cute Latina, only to discover that Abe's outrageous antics are hurting his chances. The duo's situation worsens when Principal Durante punishes them by forcing them to perform the weekly chapel assembly.
