Good Morning
A light hearted spin on the continuing subject of these challenges of intergenerational relationships of director Yasujiro Ozu Morning tells the story of 2 young boys that stop after their parents won't get a tv set, speaking in demonstration. Ozu weaves a wealth of gags through a family portrait as rich as those of the films of his son protagonists. Shot in stunning color and set in a suburb of Tokyo where house-wives gossip about the neighbors' brand new automatic washer and jobless husbands search for work as door to door salesmen, this charming humor refashions Ozu's very silent classic I Was Born, But... to softly satirize consumerism in post war Japan.
