Changing Landscapes
A well-written and sophisticated account of how the landscape changed in and around Paris in the early 1960s, this book is a great read. There are a lot of complicated questions about what modern landscapes mean, how people feel about them, and the mysterious features of things like canals, pylons, and abandoned factories. Rohmer also talks about how landscapes are used in different types of modern art and design, and he talks about specific architects, artists, and engineers who use landscapes.
