But on the Arabian Peninsula from the 1930s, two thirds leaders face to face. The victorious Nesib, Emir of Hobeika, lays his serenity terms of rival Amar,'' Sultan of Salmaah. The two men agree that neither may lay claim to the area of no person's property between them called The Yellow Belt. Inturn, Amar's two boys are adopted by Nesib Auda and Saleeh as a warranty against invasion. A dozen years later, Auda and Saleeh have grown into young men. Saleeh itches to flee his cage return to his father's property. Auda cares limited to books and also the pursuit of comprehension. One day, their dad Nesib is seen by an American in Texas. He informs the Emir his territory is blessed with oil and promises him wealth beyond his wildest imagination that. Nesib supposes a kingdom of infinite possibility, a kingdom with roads, schools and hospitals paid for by the stone beneath the barren sand. There is but one problem. The oil is located in the Yellow Belt.
