Beyond the Wasteland

Beyond the Wasteland is a documentary that was filmed in Australia, the United States, Italy, France, Germany, and Japan. It follows Mad Max enthusiasts who travel great distances for their favorite film. As these quirky fans try to fit in with the Mad Max group, the film transports us into the Mad Max universe and allows us to explore the bizarre world of the fans, their costumes, and their equipment. The documentary also follows Bertrand Cadart, a member of the original cast, as he makes his final trip from his home on the Sunshine Coast to Silverton's "Wasteland," the desert setting for Mad Max2. Cadart is still battling stage IV leukemia. Beyond the Wasteland honors both life and the capacity for personal transformation brought forth by passion.
