After the Rehearsal

Sensible, rigorous, and also self-controlled theater supervisor, Henrik Vogler, usually stays after rehearsal to think and prepare. On today, Anna returns, ostensibly looking for an arm band. She is the lead in his new production of Stindberg's "A Desire Play." She talks of her disgust for her mother, currently dead, an alcoholic actress, that was Vogler's star and lover. Vogler comes under a reverie, keeping in mind a day Anna's mother, Rakel, late in life, followed wedding rehearsal to beg him ahead to her house. He wakes up and Anna reveals the factor she has actually returned: she shocks him into an emotional response, unusual for him, and the feelings of a young woman and an older guy play out.
