The Reconciliation
Poland at the start of 1945. Under the pretense of punishing "national traitors," the Communist Security Service is obliterating its adversaries in a recently liberated nation. They establish Zgoda/Reconciliation, a labor camp for Germans, Silesians, and Poles on the grounds of a former Nazi concentration camp. In order to save the Polish prisoner Anna, Franek, who is in love with her, accepts a job as a warder in the camp. He is unaware that his German friend Erwin, who is also a prisoner, has been in love with this girl for a very long time. In the vain aim of outwitting the system, Franek joins the communists.
