The Gilded Lily
To the chagrin of her best friend, the reporter Pete Dawes, who has a crush on her, Secretary Marilyn "Lynn" David falls in love with the British aristocracy Charles Gray Granville. This causes Pete to feel guilty about his feelings for Marilyn. Pete creates a false story about Lynn, portraying her as a "No Girl" who turned down the proposal of marriage from a cold-hearted aristocrat when he finds out that the already-engaged Gray has caused Lynn pain. But when the exposure brings Lynn unanticipated stardom and Gray returns, she is forced to choose between the two men because she can't have both of them.
